Playpower Foundation (2008–2012)

An open-source community for designing and distributing learning games to ultra-affordable computers in developing regions.

During the 1980s, learning games introduced millions of Western children to computing. Playpower is working to offer the same opportunity to children in developing regions today.

At the core of this effort is a widely available 8-bit computer. This “Famiclone” includes a keyboard/mouse, plugs directly into a TV, and is sold for 10 USD at markets in India, Brazil, China, etc.
